The first thing to know is that a Google News sitemap is not required when requesting inclusion in the News Index for Google News. Its only suggested if the Google newsbot crawling your news site is having issues discovering your content. However, we recommend you include a googlenews.xml sitemap before submitting your website along with adequately tagging your news articles with the NewsArticle schema tags; this will help with your SEO and approval process. Also, please note that the google-news-sitemap.xml is not the same as your website sitemap.xml you are required to create a separate sitemap for Google News. The final step is to include the URL for the sitemap on your robots.txt declaring User-agent: Googlebot-News at the beginning of your file.
